AAP seeks probe into liquor smuggling

Moga Aam Admi Party (AAP) on Thursday hit out at the Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), saying they are responsible for the revenue loss due to illegal smuggling from adjoining Haryana.

While demanding a high level judicial probe into liquor smuggling from Haryana and Union Territory Chandigarh, AAP senior leader and Leader of Opposition(LoP), Harpal Singh Cheema alleged that some policemen with Punjab excise staff and contractors are backing the liquor mafia in selling adulterated liquor.

“After manufacturing illegal liquor at Chandigarh, liquor lobby is also selling adulterated alcohol in Punjab on much higher prices under the political patronage of both Congress and SAD,” Cheema said.

The AAP leader stated that even during the curfew and lockdown liquor was even supplied by the vendors at the door step of customers.
