New Delhi/Jaipur: Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Saturday attacked Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for protesting inside the Raj Bhawan, saying it is pointless to think of law and order in Rajasthan as even the state Governor is unsafe.

“Where the Governor is made to feel unsafe by the chief minister, there speaking against theft, robbery, rape, murder and violent incidents is useless,” Mr Shekhawat wrote in Hindi on his twitter handle.

The accusation by the Minister, who is also an MP from Jodhpur, comes against the backdrop of Mr Gehlot and his supporters staging a sit-in protest in the lawns of the Raj Bhawan on Friday, demanding an immediate session of the Assembly for a floor test.

Mr Gehlot, through media, has also warned the Governor that situation might go out of hand if the demand was not met.

Charges are flying thick and fast between Mr Shekhawat and Mr Gehlot since audio tapes of purported conversation of former over ‘horse-trading’ surfaced in media.

Mr Shekhawat has called these tapes ‘doctored’, but has also not given his voice sample.

However, Mr Gehlot calling Mr Shekhawat a ‘liar’, has challenged him to get it tested from anywhere.

The confrontation between the two Rajasthan leaders worsened when Jaipur court asked the Rajasthan police to probe Mr Shekhawat’s role in alleged Rs 900 crore credit society scam.
