Punjab records one death, 23 fresh cases

Chandigarh Punjab on Thursday recorded one more deaths and twenty three fresh confirmed cases of Coronavirus, taking the death toll to 39 and number of infected to 2028 in the state.

According to an official medical bulletin, the deadly virus claimed one life in Amritsar district.

Meanwhile, seven fresh cases were reported in Hoshiarpur district, five in Amritsar, four in Gurdaspur, two each in Ludhiana and Pathankot and one new case each in Patiala, Barnala and Kapurthala districts.

Out of 39 casualities so far, seven deaths have been registered in Ludhiana district, six in Jalandhar, five each in Amritsar and Hoshiarpur, three each in SAS Nagar, Kapurthala and Gurdaspur, two in Patiala and one each in Pathankot, Ferozepur, SBS Nagar, Ropar and Barnala districts.

According to the latest infection tally, Amritsar leads with 313 cases, followed by Jalandhar 210, Ludhiana 171, Tarn Taran 155, Gurdaspur 129, SBS Nagar 105, Patiala 104, SAS Nagar and Hoshiarpur 102 each, Sangrur 88, Muktsar 65, Faridkot 61, Ropar 60, Moga 59, Fatehgarh Sahib 56, Ferozepur and Fazilka 44 each, Bathinda 41, Kapurthala 34, Mansa 32, Pathankot 31 and Barnala 22.

As many as 1819 patients have been cured of the virus and discharged so far. Amritsar district tops the tally with 295, followed by Jalandhar 173, Tarn Taran 154, Gurdaspur 121, Ludhiana 117, SAS Nagar 99, Patiala and SBS Nagar 98, Hoshiarpur 88, Sangrur 87, Moga 59, Muktsar 58, Fatehgarh Sahib 54, Ropar 52, Faridkot 45, Ferozepur 43, Fazilka 41, Bathinda 37, Kapurthala 30, Pathankot 28, Mansa 22 and Barnala recorded 20.

The bulletin further stated that there were 170 active cases till date and one patient is on ventilator.

Out of 59,618 samples taken in the state, 2028 have tested positive, 53,871 negative, while reports of 3719 were still awaited, the bulletin added.
