Punjab SC Coporation releases subsidy worth Rs 1,40 cr to help SC beneficiaries

Jalandhar  Lending a helping hand to the needy and underprivileged sections of society to combat Covid-19 crisis through self employment, the Punjab Schedule Caste Land Development and Finance Corporation has released subsidy worth Rs 1.40 crore for Schedule Caste beneficiaries.

Divulging the details, the Chairman of the Corporation Mr ML Sood said the Covid-19 pandemic has adversely affected the economy across the globe.

Number of people has been unemployed and many were facing trouble in managing two square meals a day for their family. Mr Sood said that in such a grim scenario, the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has came forward for lending a helping hand to the needy.

The Chairman said on the directions of the Chief Minister the poor families of SC community were being assisted for setting up their self employment ventures. He said that in this endeavour, 1404 eligible beneficiaries have been issued 1.40 crore by the Corporation under Bank Tie up scheme for self employment.

The District Managers have been asked to transfer the amount in the bank accounts of the concerned beneficiaries, adding that in coming days the beneficiaries would get loans worth Rs 9 crore, which would be a succor by the state government to needy people in this hour of crisis.

The Chairman said that the Corporation had in its other schemes approved loans worth Rs 12.35 crore during year 2019-20 out of which Rs 9.11 crore have been disbursed to the beneficiaries. He said that the remaining ones would also be distributed very soon.

Mr  Sood said the entire staff of the Corporation has worked very hard during the pandemic and had even contributed their one day’s salary for the Chief Minister’s relief fund.
