New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to grant parole to self-styled godman Rampal of Haryana, who is serving life sentence presently in connection with a murder case.
The bench headed by Chief Justice S A Bobde, comprising Justices R Subhash Reddy and A S Bopanna upheld the decision of the Punjab and Haryana High Court rejecting Rampal’s plea seeking a week’s parole to attend his granddaughter’s wedding, scheduled for Wednesday.
Earlier, the High Court had rejected his plea. However, the court has granted an interim relief to his son for three weeks.
Rampal, his son and 13 other people are currently serving jail terms under charges of murder, wrongful confinement of people and criminal conspiracy.
