UP Education Minister Kamal Rani Varun dies of coronavirus

Lucknow: Corona-infected Uttar Pradesh Education Minister Kamal Rani Varun died on Sunday. She was 62.

Kamal Rani, MLA from Ghatampur in Kanpur, was admitted to the Apex Trauma Center of Sanjay Gandhi Snack Postgraduate Institute of Science (SGPGI), Lucknow on July 18 due to corona infection. She breathed his last this morning. The cause of his death is corona or due to some other disease, is yet to be officially confirmed.

Rani had been a Member of Parliament in Kanpur in 11th and 12th Lok Sabha. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who was distressed by the death of minister, has canceled his visit to Ayodhya today.

“I express my deepest condolences to the family of Cabinet Minister Kamala Rani Varun. She was COVID-19 positive and was receiving treatment at SGPGI Hospital. She was a popular public leader and a social worker. She worked efficiently while being the part of the Cabinet,” Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said in his condolence message.
