Watch: Poison of pandemics; 1720 – 2020
New Delhi Scientists and health experts across the world are introspecting the ‘co-relation’ among the four major pandemics, including Covid-19, that jolted the planet after every hundred years since 1720.
Even as some quarters are terming the ‘unusual’ as ‘just coincidence’, efforts are on to find the scientific or other reasons behind the Phenomena.
Incidentally, besides novel Coronavirus, three other major pandemics had battered the globe from 1720 to 1920- The Great Plague of Marseille, The Cholera pandemic in Asia and Spanish Flu.
Meanwhile, the worldwide COVID-19 death toll escalated to 4,05,272 and the number of affected increased to 70,85,702.
Of these, India is accounted for 6,929 deaths and 2,46,628 affected.
Spanish Flu, a pandemic of Influenza A (H1N1) in 1918-19 caused the highest number of known flu deaths.
More than 5,00,000 people died in the United States, and 20 million to 50 million people have reportedly died worldwide – half of those who died were young, healthy adults.
The Spanish Flu pandemic is the catastrophe against which all modern pandemics are measured. Many people died from this very quickly.
Some people who felt well in the morning became sick by noon, and were dead by nightfall, said reports.

With the Spanish flu, mortality rates were high among healthy adults as well as the usual ‘high-risk’ groups.
The attack rate and mortality was highest among adults 20 to 50 years old. The severity of that virus has fortunately not been seen again.
Meanwhile, US is leading the Covid-19 tally and its toll of over 1,09,800 is highest too.
According to experts, scientists across the world, now along with researches to find a medicine for Covid-19, are scrutinising the characteristic features of the all four pandemics to find the ‘exact reason’ behind the emergence of those after every hundred years.
